The King River is a quality trout stream, with brown and rainbow trout inhabiting the deeper pools and runs throughout the valley. Fish right from the park or explore upstream where the river narrows and the pools deepen beneath overhanging willows.
Spinners and fly fishing both produce results here. The evening rise in summer can be spectacular, with trout sipping caddis from the surface in the glassy pools below the park. Local knowledge goes a long way — ask at reception for current hot spots and what's working.
A Victorian recreational fishing licence is required. The season runs September to June. Catch-and-release is strongly encouraged to protect this beautiful fishery.
